DESCRIPTION

Autonomous Systems (AS) have nowadays a multitude of applications:

  • Autonomous Cars
  • Autonomous Drones
  • Autonomous Marine Systems (surface, underwater)
  • Autonomous Robots.

In particular, Autonomous Cars and Autonomous Drones and Drone Swarms are very timely and get a lot of attention in the mass media.

This CVML Web Module focuses on Autonomous Systems and their applications. First, an Introduction to Autonomous Systems is presented. Then, Autonomous Systems Sensors are described, as they play a key role in AS perception.  LiDAR is such a primary example in Robotics and Autonomous Systems perception. Drone and Robot Swarms are then overviewed.  Privacy Protection, Ethics and Regulations issues are presented, as they are an important topic in AS research and development. Self-Awareness in Autonomous Systems is another important topic that is overviewed. Finally Agent Systems and Natural Selection simulations are presented.
